SOGI, THE COMPLEMENTARY NATURE OF SKILLS AT THE SERVICE OF INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT

SOGI, the French acronym for the Société Gabonaise Industrielle (the Gabonese Industrial Company) was created in Libreville, Gabon, in 1975.
Since its creation, SOGI has been characterized by its diverse areas of expertise:

Achievements based on the users' requirements

SOGI, in close cooperation with the users, designs and makes equipments and facilities specially suited to the local conditions specific to Central Africa: torrential rains, excessive moisture, poor road network, forest work sites, oil prospection and production, etc.
During the pas 3 years, SOGI has made:

 

 

  • 80% of the Gabonese heavy trucking bodies and equipment,
  • the whole of the dumper trucks and tanks in Gabon,
  • wood slicing factories such as CEB THANRY, CEMA GABON and BORDAMUR GABON (RIMBUNAN HIJAN GROUP OF COMPANIES)
  • the oil depot of the SEEG power plant (electricity supply) in Owendo,
  • company bases such as SODIM TP, TOYOTA and GESPARC's "saucer",
  • in the region, the aluminum carpentry of Malabo International Airport, and the metal structure of the Mongomo Conference Hall dome in Equatorial Guinea,
  • and many other construcution spread out on the whole of the Gabonese territory.

Finally, and in order to illustrate SOGI's will to seize all the opportunities of regional development, SOGI has, for instance, built the metal frame of the Mongomo Conference Hall and the aluminum carpentry of Malabo International Airport in Equatorial Guinea.

 

A Guaranteed Quality

From its creation on, SOGI dedicated itself to select its partners among world renowned suppliers:

  • MARREL for the hydraulic equipment for dumper trucks and for cranes, for "ampliroll" equipment, and for multi dumper trucks.
  • BPW for wheel sets, axles, and suspensions.
  • BOSCH, the biggest independent supplier of systems and components for cars, heavy trucks, diesel injection, and parts.
  • TECHNAL, the French aluminum leader for aluminum carpentry, and
  • SAINT GOBAIN, for glazing and mirror making.

 

At the Spearhead of Progress and Technology

Outffitted with highly effective equipment, SOGI regularly invest in high technology manufacturing processes.
The company thus possesses a computerized system for computing mechanical structur; a cutting table equipped with optical reading and a plasma torch; two high capacity shearing machines; rolling and stamping machines; and lifiting machinery that enables the manufacturing of single bloc parts of up to 10 metric tons.

Renovated facilities, modular and extendable.

SOGI's facilities in the Oloumi Industrial Area have entirely been reffitted and cover 12,200 square meters, 5;000 of which are roofed.
Entirely renovated, they gather the design office outfitted with computer-aide drafting (CAD) software; the manufacturing and maintenance workshops; and the administrative offices. Some space has been reserved for the servicing department and for the sale of BOSCH spare parts. A specific workshop has also be outfitted for the Aluminum Carpentry activity.
The ship building workshop is offsite, located at the mouth of the Nomba River, on the Owendo Road. It is equipped with appropriate lifting and hauling machinery and other tools that enables it to work on any kind of sea vessel. By taking in boats of up to 600 metric tons, 2.20-meter draft, and 13.50-meter wide, this equipment extend the intervention capacities in Gabon.

A Qualified and Effective Staff

The qualification and performances of SOGI's staff result from the continuous selection and training policy adopted from the start by the company. Thus, all of the company's 200 agents regularly follow in-house training sessions that enable them to update their respective technical knowledges.
